Tree Identification in Central Park

Janes Walk

Led By Jim Peborde and Nancy Holland AND Nancy Holland, Leader: Urbantrails & Outdoors clubs

We’ll walk the bridle path, which might be muddy. We will use Edward Barnard’s New York City Trees Field Guide written in consultation with the Parks Department to identify many of the park’s 125 tree species. Please feel free to bring your field guides and knowledge of trees to share! We’ll discuss how to use the Parks Department website to identify NYC’s 2,500,000 street trees, noting Robert Moses’ favorite tree planted throughout the city and his connection to Jane Jacobs.

Location Information

RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
