Prospect Lefferts Gardens: Flatbush’s Hidden Treasure

Many of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods sprang up organically, growing and expanding away from an early settlement or natural feature. Lefferts Manor was laid out and developed in the late 19th century by James Lefferts, a member of one of Dutch Brooklyn’s most influential families. It is at the heart of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, the northernmost neighborhood in Flatbush.
