Mohawks in Boerum Hill: New York, A Native American Skyline

Janes Walk

Led By Deborah Zelcer, MAS docent/ProwlerNYC Tour Guide

Native Americans traded Manhattan to Europeans for trinkets but later exchanged their monumental talents for a handsome living that took them to dizzying heights. Join us in rapidly changing brownstone and downtown Brooklyn to discover the history of the Kahnewake Mohawks, who fearlessly built NY’s most notable skyscrapers of the 20th century, but whose lives were forever changed when High Steel became increasingly obsolete.
