Bike Tour of Shirley Chisholm State Park: The Tale of Trash Transformation into Parkland

Take a bike tour to learn about the fascinating history and development of Shirley Chisholm State Park. Named after the amazing Brooklyn Congressional Representative and first black female candidate for US President, this park is 407 acres repurposed from a landfill site. It features an ecosystem that preserves native plants and fauna, as well as offers spectacular views of Jamaica Bay.

Accessibility

Bikes and helmets are available for free at the Bike Library. Participants are also welcome to ride their own bike so long as the , if tires are appropriate for gravel trails. This bike ride is hilly, so cyclists must feel comfortable shifting gears. Participants must wear helmets (yours or ours) and appropriate footwear. Please bring water.
