Gowanus Creative Walk

On this guided “creative walk,” participants are invited to take photographs and make sound recordings along the route to document their walk. Participants are encouraged to capture any sight or sound that intrigues them. Documenting the unusual, unexpected or unnoticed is encouraged. Photos and recordings can be taken with a phone, or any other device. (If using a smartphone, the Voice Recorder and Voice Memos apps can be used to make recordings. There are also additional recording apps that can be downloaded from the app store.) Locations with historical significance will be highlighted.

Accessibility

The walking route is 1.3 miles in length. The route is accessible and will not include any stairs. The walk will be conducted on sidewalks and a paved park walkway. The walking route is close to public transportation. The starting point (96 9th Street) is 0.2 miles from the Smith-9th Street station (F and G subway lines, B61 and B57 bus lines). The ending location (543 Union Street) is 0.3 miles from the Union Street station (R line- one stop to Atlantic Barclays) and 0.4 miles to Carroll Street station (F and G lines). It is also 01. miles from the B37 and 0.4 miles from the B57 and B63 bus lines. Both the starting and ending locations are within two blocks of a Citi Bike station.
