Walking with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen in Greenwich Village!

Janes Walk

Led By Kent Watkins

I currently teach an online OLLI university course called Decoding Artists: Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. Part of it traces the spaces in the Village where both lived, sang, drank, or walked – with an overlap of time and fellow singers and lovers. I would play and discuss the music they either composed or sang while in the neighborhood. Virtual maps would aid, along with an email newsletter before and after to provide appropriate materials (e.g., website, music and film links, articles, lyrics, photographs, references). If sufficient interest, some of the local participants could meet physically at a later date to discuss their interests further. The virtual approach permits an extended area to the Village’s focal point, and add value versus walking fatigue.
