Join El Puente for this in-person guided interactive walk that will take us through time to visit and embody the legacy of social justice wins led by community efforts in Los Sures/the Southside, Williamsburg, while bringing us to contemporary grassroots work and how to join the movement. We’ll look at murals bred from collective efforts, visit sites of Environmental Injustices and the ongoing activism around them, discuss citizen-science initiatives and engage in some art-ivism in community & public spaces. In true ode to Jane Jacobs, we’ll share how local and borough-wide efforts have been unfolding calling for a transformative future that shifts away from the realities imposed on communities by racist infrastructure projects, and we’ll share a CALL TO ACTION around current efforts to mitigate the harms caused by the BQE.
