Let’s leave the grid behind and meander the alleys, mews and cobblestone streets of this vibrant and eclectic neighborhood. We will discuss the history and the people, such as Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, Henry James, Mae West and Thomas Paine who spent time in and influenced the culture of this neighborhood. And we will view the architecture, buildings, and lovely homes as we go, along with a stop at the Jefferson Market Courthouse and the oldest apothecary in America.

Accessibility

The length of the walk is less than a mile and is entirely on city streets so it is handicap accessible. There is a restroom at the start but please allow time as tour will start promptly at 11am. the A,B,C,D,E,F, and M trains will take you to west 4th st. There is limited street parking.
