Sandy +10: Resilience, Equity, Climate Justice

On October 28th, MAS is thrilled to be involved in Columbia Climate School’s Sandy +10: Resilience, Equity, Climate Justice conference. As a part of the day-long conference, MAS will host a panel conversation at 10 AM in Room 315, answering the following question:

How has climate advocacy in the public realm evolved post-Sandy and how can policy makers, advocates, and developers best prioritize the public realm and its many users moving forward?

Moderated by MAS’s Senior Director of Land Use and Planning, Thomas Devaney, the panel will involve the following esteemed professionals:

Génesis Abreu Youth Environmental Leadership Manager at Futures Ignite
Amy E. Turner Senior Fellow at the Cities Climate Law Initiative in Columbia Law School’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law
Siobhan Watson Deputy Director of Sustainability Programs at NYCHA

This conference will create a space for reflection, collective learning and calls to action for a community of storm survivors, activists, practitioners, public servants, and academics whose life and work changed to meet the challenges of Hurricane Sandy recovery.
