The Beer Gardens of Queens: Pork, Pilsner and Polkas

With Bob Singleton and Deb Van Cura

Beer gardens are popular today but certainly not new. At the turn of the 20th century, beer gardens were the entertainment centers of many communities in Queens, a place of escape and rest after a week of hard work. This lecture will trace the history of the beer garden from its very early days to today. Take a virtual tour of the many communities of Queens, where the Beer Garden was the best place to get a cold beer on a hot night. Well, actually, it still is!

All tours are Eastern Time and run about 60 to 90 minutes.

Registration is now closed.
