Yeohlee’s Walk Shows Vibrant Garment District

25 West 38th Street: Yeohlee’s Store in the Garment District Fashion designer and MAS Board Member Yeohlee Teng has been working tirelessly to promote a new vision for Manhattan’s Garment District as a hub for innovation and creativity for the fashion industry. In 2009, Yeohlee initiated the study Made in Midtown on behalf of the Council of Fashion Designers of America in partnership with the Design Trust for Public Space.

In a video produced for MAS, Yeohlee walks the walk on West 38th Street and discusses how the proximity of pattern makers, pleaters, cutters and fabric suppliers and other vendors within the district make it possible for designers to take their concepts and turn them into reality.

“Yeohlee showed her deep commitment to the District by opening a shop and studio on West 38th Street,” said MAS President Vin Cipolla. “She knows firsthand how important this ecosystem of supplies and services is to emerging and established designers.”

The video was produced for MAS by students from a Long Island City-based high school, Academy for Careers in Television and Film.

MAS is deeply involved in helping determine the future of the District through public programs, research and advocacy.  Learn more >>
