President's Report: Next for New York Preview

What do an SOM Skyscraper and Two Streets in Bed-Stuy Have in Common?

Answer: They are both scheduled to become NYC landmarks tomorrow (Tuesday, February 10th).

The LPC is scheduled tomorrow to designate as landmarks SOM’s Chase Manhattan Plaza in Lower Manhattan; Alice and Agate Courts in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn; and the Con Ed building on 14th Street and Irving Place.  In addition, the LPC is holding a public hearing to consider the designation of the Schleicher Mansion in College Point Queens, and it will “calendar” (the first step in the designation process) a group of rowhouses at 189-211 Ocean Avenue across from Prospect Park (the Ocean on the Park Historic District).   Check out our slide show on all the buildings.
