New Penn Station

MAS believes that the Moynihan Station project – the construction of a new train station in the Farley Post Office and the redevelopment of Penn Station – should be at the center of city and state efforts to develop a new commercial district on the Far West Side of Manhattan. Our involvement in the project dates to the early 1990s when the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan began promoting the ideas of a new train station in the Farley Post Office.

A well-designed and functional new train station would restore some of the civic grandeur of the original Penn Station, especially for the 500,000 people who use the nation’s busiest rail hub each day. In a time of congested air travel and high fuel prices, a great new Penn Station could spark a renaissance in inter-city rail travel.

MAS’ web site, www.newpennstation.org, documents the background and breaking news on the construction of Moynihan Station.
