Derek Ballantyne is currently working with a consultancy in the areas of real estate development, organizational strategy and real estate investment strategy. He was Chief Operating Officer, Build Toronto – a municipal real estate development corporation – form its inception in 2009 to 2011. Prior to this Derek was Chief Executive Officer of Toronto Community Housing. In that capacity he led a large program of capital reinvestment in the housing stock and the redevelopment of several sites, including the project to regenerate the 70 acre, 2,100 unit Regent Park community.

Derek’s current work and interests are in mobilization of capital for impact investment in the Canadian non-profit sectors.
