MAS Planning Center has developed a variety of tools for community-based planners to use in their work. From interactive maps and data, to training high-school students as map technicians, to an atlas of New York City’s community-based plans, to an online archive of maps from the NYC Department of Buildings and NYC Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, here you will find the tools and resources you need to help your community plan effectively for its future.
The Community Information Technology Initiative (CITI) provides community boards and community-based organizations with maps, data, and technical assistance to support local planning efforts.

Made possible through a partnership between the City of New York and the Municipal Art Society, www.myciti.mas.org provides direct access to PLUTO’s detailed property information including zoning, ownership, land use and lot dimensions.
The CITI Youth program, a component of CITI, introduces local high school students to GIS technology and how it can be used as a tool for community decision-making. Participating students can apply for internships as Map Technicians at their local community board. To find out more or to attend a free training session, contact the Planning Center.

The Municipal Art Society Planning Center, with assistance from the Community-Based Planning Task Force, has developed an interactive, online tool that compiles community-based plans in New York City. Planning for All New Yorkers: An Atlas of Community-Based Plans in New York City contains 87 individual plans, created since 1989, the year that the City responded to pressure from communities to simplify and strengthen provisions in the City Charter for 197-a planning (197-a plans are officially-recognized, community-initiated local plans).
