MAS Tour Guide: One of the World’s Best

Francis Morrone Our very own Francis Morrone was just named one of the thirteen best tour guides in the world (one of only two in the United States) by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Francis is an accomplished professor, tour leader and author of more than eight books, including the upcoming The New York Public Library: The Architecture and Decoration of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, which he wrote with Henry Hope Reed (who co-led the very first MAS walking tour in 1956). Francis also co-authored Ten Architectural Walks in Manhattan, a guidebook MAS published in 2009.

Francis has led sell-out tours for MAS for more than twenty years, amassing quite a following.

“Francis knows our city better than anyone else, and it shows in his phenomenal work for MAS. He combines the perfect mix of expert knowledge of architectural history and those wonderful nuggets of New York trivia and back-stories that bring so much to his tours,” said MAS President Vin Cipolla. “While we at MAS—and Francis’ legions of fans—are hardly surprised at this honor, I offer my congratulations to Francis and thank him for his dedication to the mission and work of MAS.”
