The Evangeline Blashfield Award is inspired by the artist and social innovator who, in 1893 at the age of 36, helped conceive of and found the Municipal Art Society. Driven by her own artistic talent and social conscience, Evangeline Blashfield campaigned for changes in the urban environment that enhanced the beauty of public spaces, raised the quality of urban life through civic amenities, and contributed to the betterment of our public realm. This award is bestowed to an individual in mid-career, who through his or her civic activism, has demonstrated a commitment to these ideals.
